The Faculty of Tourism at Gümüşhane University organized an orientation program on October 2, 2025, for newly enrolled students in the 2025–2026 academic year. The aim of the program was to inform students about the university’s structure, operating units, available facilities, and the conditions for using these facilities.
The program began with an introduction to the event schedule by Research Assistant Zekiye Nur AKYÜREKLİ from the Department of Tourism Guidance. Following a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Prof. Dr. Sevim Beyza ÖZTÜRK SARIKAYA delivered the opening speech. In her address, Prof. Dr. ÖZTÜRK SARIKAYA provided information about the active departments and academic staff of the faculty, emphasizing that university life is a crucial four-year period. She encouraged students to make the most of this time by setting clear goals and working diligently to achieve them.
As part of the orientation program, several guest speakers from various university units gave presentations to help students become more familiar with the institution. Muhammed Hakan BULUT from the Student Affairs Department, Hakan KARADAĞLI from the Health, Culture and Sports Department, Yavuz TANGUROĞLU from the Library and Documentation Department, and Lecturer Nalan DEMİR from the Erasmus Coordination Office provided information about the functioning of their respective departments.
The program continued with departmental introduction presentations by Research Assistant Aleyna GÜN from the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts and Research Assistant Zekiye Nur AKYÜREKLİ from the Department of Tourism Guidance. Their presentations included information about classrooms, academic staff, student clubs, and student-centered programs such as Erasmus.
After the departmental briefings, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Savaş EVREN, Head of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail ÇALIK, Head of the Department of Tourism Guidance, answered students’ questions regarding their respective departments. The program concluded following the Q&A session.
