Granting of Appreciation and Recognition Certificates to Academic and Administrative Staff

The conditions for granting appreciation and recognition certificates to the academic and administrative staff, as stated below in writing, were approved at the Faculty Board Meeting of the Faculty of Tourism dated 18.10.2025 and numbered 2025/02.

Process for Granting Appreciation and Recognition Certificates to Academic Staff

At the end of each calendar year, during the first three months of the following year, the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Tourism awards certificates of appreciation to academic staff who meet any of the following criteria under the categories of scientific and research-development performance.
The submitted information is verified by the departments and then forwarded to the Dean’s Office.

Within each department, the person who achieves the highest academic incentive score for three consecutive years receives the certificate of recognition.
To be eligible, the individual must have the highest raw academic incentive score within the department; in case of a tie, the total cumulative score is taken into account.

1. Scientific Performance Evaluation Criteria

  • Having at least one publication in journals indexed in SSCI, AHCI, or SCI-Expanded.

  • Having at least one publication in journals indexed in ESCI or Scopus.

    • Being the first author in a multi-author article from the same unit.

    • If the authors are from different institutions, being the first author representing one’s own unit.

  • Having at least one publication in an international book indexed in the Book Citation Index (BKCI) (to verify whether your book is listed in BKCI, please check via the Web of Science database).

  • Receiving at least 30 citations from articles published in journals indexed in Web of Science (WOS) or Scopus during the past four years.

2. Research and Development Performance Evaluation Criteria

  • Acting as a principal investigator in a TÜBİTAK-funded project.

  • Participating as a researcher in a TÜBİTAK-funded project (with a principal investigator from another institution).

  • Receiving a “C” evaluation grade for a TÜBİTAK 1001, 1003, or 1005 project proposal (as principal investigator).

  • Completing a project under international collaboration.

  • Completing a BAP project with code 2901, 2902, 2903, or 2904 (as principal investigator).

  • Submitting an application for a trademark, patent, or utility model.

  • Contributing to the development of any product.


Documents Required for Evaluation

Academic staff who meet the above conditions must prepare and submit the following documents to the Dean’s Office within the first two weeks of January:

For Journal Articles:

  • The first page of the article showing the title, author names, publication year, ISSN, etc.

  • The indexing page showing the index in which the journal is listed.

  • If the article has not yet been published, a document showing the DOI number.

For Books Indexed in BKCI or Other International Publishers:

  • The cover page showing the title, publisher, ISBN, and author information.

  • For book chapters: additionally, the first page of the chapter and the table of contents.

  • A document proving that the book or chapter is indexed in BKCI or another international publisher.

For TÜBİTAK and BAP Projects:

  • A document showing the names of the principal investigator and researchers and confirming that the project has been completed.

For Citations:

  • The first page of the article containing the citation, the page where the citation appears, and the reference list page.

  • The indexing page showing the database where the citing journal is indexed.


Process for Granting Appreciation and Recognition Certificates to Administrative Staff

At the end of each calendar year, during January of the following year, the performance of administrative staff is evaluated according to the criteria listed below.
The Dean’s Office, Faculty Secretariat, and Department Chairs assess each administrative staff member’s performance based on these evaluation criteria.

Administrative staff who have not received any disciplinary action, perform assigned duties accurately and on time, and observe courtesy and protocol rules in communication are granted a certificate of appreciation.
Administrative staff who receive a certificate of appreciation for three consecutive years are then awarded a certificate of recognition.
